2. December
Today Sara and Michael were busy putting out the Christmas decoration.

Obviously Caril tried to adapt tradition and summer in various ways, like the butterfly lightning. I think the penguin should have a place at our christmas tree, too ;)

Celebrating christmas in another country is always quite exciting. Celebrating christmas in a country with subtropical climate and temperatures rising up to 28°C is even more exciting! Seasons, times, traditions, everything seems kind of upside down on the other side of the world.
The following 24 days I want to show you what this in means in particular. Like in the good old days of the 'Adventskalender' I will post about interesting combinations of Christmas on the other side of the world every day. So, visit http://wolkenpause.blogger.de and see what christmas means in New Zealand... ;)
Today I want to post a picture that has the aim to show exactly what that means. Having an icecream next to a christmas tree. Totally normal around these days!

Guten Appetit!

Advent, Advent - (k)ein Lichtlein brennt
Advent, Advent - (no) candle burns
Few weeks ago I received a card in my postbox telling me that a parcel is waiting for me. I haven't been exspecting this at all and so it was a huge surprise, when I saw that my girls sent me a christmas parcel! Great friends they are, they met in Dresden to bake christmas cookies and shared them by four instead of three and send it to their always gone friend. Thanks to the Wichtels Anja, Friedel and Kristin again!!!
It was quite hard not to rip it off and eat it all at once, and today, the 1.Advent was finally the day to try the delicois selfmade Vanillekipferln, Kekse and Zettis. Mummsfilibaba!

Caril, Brian and our Woofers Sara and Michael joined me crazy christmas traditionalist, lighting incense smokers and the first candle - when the came back from the beach. Kind of weird to celebrate christmas when it's sunny and hot outside, however, the lecker cookies and nice company blew all pecularities for the evening away. (Especially as Brian put the Christmas Carols in the CD player :)

Vielen Dank Mädels! Freu mich schon auf unseren Glühwein!

Rangitoto Day Trip
The sun shining and a whole weekend studying is just not possible. So I took the chance and went with my college Elgin and our Woofers Sara and Michale to the little island Rangitoto for a great day trip.

Rangitoto

Sara and Michael

Auckland from the sea

Über Stock und über Stein

Enjoying the view

Sara in front of the cave

In the lava cave

Light at the end of the tunnel

Unterwegs

Volcano inside

So hot....

Elgin, me and Auckland in the back

Like a painting

Elgin tries the water

Lava field

Lucky us, the last ferry is still there

Sushi-Time
This week I decided to convince Caril and Brian that Sushi is much nicer when you prepare it yourself.

Brian takes the tamago challenge

Caril takes care for the sticky rice

Ready to go

And here we go!

Sara gets an honour
