20. December
My first day at home was quite busy. Still jetlaged I woke up at 6 in the morning and could not sleep anymore. So I went to the bakery and saw all the cute little lights in the windows (semi circles ;)). Then my parents came as a surprise and I met the girls on the 'Striezelmarkt' (christmas market in Dresden). We had a hot spiced wine, so jum!

After 36 hours in Nomansland between Auckland and Dresden I finally arrived home. How weird to be here again. So happy to see Mathi, my family and friends! I still have to get used to the darkness and coldness and hope it will be snowing soon. Miss you Kiwis over the ocean a lot and will post a sunny picture in remembrance...

On my way back to Germany I was thinking lots about my time here at the kiwis. Felt like in Nomansland, not knowing where I really am, looking forward to come home after such a long time, but feeling strongly that I gained a new home in auckland, too. So I want to go on updating this blog until the 24th with little things I found quite exciting - combining christmas and summer in New Zealand

These are the motives Kiwis use for christmas cards. I especially like the kiwi in stockings ;)

Ok, I am leaving in ten minutes to the airport and still need to pack my little backpack. So picture coming later again... See you on Friday over the ocean homies and thanks for the great time here to the Kiwis! Will miss you!
This is our wonderful christmas tree. Not green and thorny, but shiny and special!

Hej, it's time to say good bye for me. Busy packing - so picture coming later... sorry!
Here we go. This is one of the christmas angels, keeping an eye on us throughout the whole city.

A weekend full of farewells... not without a traditional German christmas dinner. Although I called my mum several times for recipes the 'grüne Klöße' did only quite turn out like they should have done. Anyway, good old Sauerkraut and Roulade saved my reputation ;)

When we go to church to listen to christmas carols, the ordinary Aucklander goes to "Christmas in the Park" - more a festival in the sun including picnic and beer than being packed in warm cloth and breathing icy clouds... However, the family and friends were there, so it's a bit like us too in the end!
